The recreation of Grady’s mural “Birth of the Sun” is
a central act of the film, establishing a physical link between the past
and present. Artists who knew Grady, and artists represented by El Taller
Latino Americano, where Grady spent much of his creative time before his
death, gathered to add their own talents to bring the mural back to life.
Among those who participated in the recreation are Andrea Arroyo, Thom
Corn, Jeff Schlanger, Angelo Romero, Laura Gilbert, Ricardo Pliego, Bernardo
Palombo, and Marc Romero. The mural, which originally was part of El Taller
when Grady was alive, will now become a permanent addition to the present-day
El Taller on Broadway and 103rd Street. |
