Birth of the Sun screened at El Taller Latino Americano on Friday Evening, June 20. Showing with "Birth of the Sun" was "Welcome to Batey 6", directed by Emmanuel Alexander Jr. and shot by Kemah Keita-Diouf. "Batey 6" is a short documentary about Haitian citizens working in sugar cane fields in the Dominican Republic. More information soon about future screenings and festival appearances.
Something that was really nice
that does not appear in "Birth of the
Sun" is the small gathering the evening of March 30, 2008.
Grady's work was finally hung in the gallery at El Taller that bears his
name. Below is a link to some photos taken by Holly Leavy that evening. The
show was essentially an announcement that the spirit of Grady Alexis is still
around making art and influencing others.
